General policies
The practical expectations that help Birth Be support feel clear, respectful and safe for everyone.

Scope of support
Birth Be provides non-medical emotional, practical and informational support. It does not provide midwifery, medical, mental health or emergency care. Elsa will work within her training and role, and may suggest that you contact an appropriate health professional or service when something is outside that role.
For urgent pregnancy, birth or postnatal concerns, contact your maternity team, GP, NHS 111 or emergency services as appropriate.
Cancellations and refunds for doula sessions
Unless a different arrangement is agreed in your written service agreement, the following cancellation terms apply to antenatal and postnatal doula sessions:
- Cancel at least 14 days before the session: a full refund of the amount paid for that session.
- Cancel less than 14 days before the session: 50% of the session fee is payable.
- Same-day cancellation or non-attendance: the session fee is non-refundable.
- If Birth Be needs to cancel, you may choose a suitable rescheduled date or a refund for the cancelled session.
Groups and events
Be Curious group bookings are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, you may request a transfer to another session with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to availability. If Birth Be cancels a session, you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund. Any event-specific terms shown at booking apply to that event.
Complaints and feedback
If something about your experience is not right, please email elsa@birthbe.co.uk with the details. Elsa aims to acknowledge a complaint within three working days and provide a full response within 14 days. If more time is needed, she will let you know and explain the next steps.
Privacy and records
Information about how enquiries, bookings and newsletter details are handled is set out in the Privacy Policy. Relevant booking and financial records may be retained for the period required for business and legal purposes.
Safeguarding and respectful care
Birth Be aims to offer respectful, inclusive support and to maintain appropriate professional boundaries. If a safeguarding concern arises, Elsa will take it seriously and may need to share relevant information with an appropriate service where required to protect someone from harm.
Recommendations and links
If Birth Be ever receives a benefit for recommending a product or service, that relationship will be clearly disclosed alongside the recommendation. Links to third-party organisations are offered as a starting point, not an endorsement of every service they provide.
These pages explain how Birth Be currently operates. They are not a substitute for legal advice. Please contact Elsa if anything is unclear or if a detail needs correcting.
