The Importance of YOU.

A personal note about taking a little time for yourself and remembering that parents need care too.

I remember the first time I left my four-month-old daughter for a coffee and a little time at an event. I felt guilty before I had even left, and my mind was full of all the things I thought I should be doing instead.

But I came home reminded that being a parent doesn’t mean disappearing as a person. We need care, connection and moments that help us feel like ourselves, too.

There is no perfect balance and no one-size-fits-all version of self-care. Sometimes it is a hot drink while it is still hot; sometimes it is letting someone else hold the baby while you have a shower or a cry.

That experience helped shape the kind of support I wanted to offer other parents: care that includes the whole person, not only the practical jobs around the baby. You matter, too.
